Use your smartphone or tablet to see the stories of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast come to life with the third of three Augmented Reality apps.
Simply launch the app then point your device’s camera at the trigger point at Nash Point to see the ill-fated Frolic Steam Packet sail on the sea again, with an audio description.
Click on the video button to view an animation about the tragic night in 1831 when she sank, killing all on board.
The Frolic Steam Packet was quite the way to travel in 1831 and was heavily laden with important passengers when she set sail from Haverford West, bound for Bristol. In terrible conditions she was wrecked on the Nash Sands. Her tragic demise prompted Trinity House to build the two lighthouses at Nash Point the following year.
Look for the Glamorgan Heritage Coast beer mats in local pubs and use the app to let the ship sail around the palm of your hand.
How to use the App:
• Follow the signs and find the trigger post near to the café at Nash Point.
• Launch the app and, facing the sea, point it at the trigger image.
• Watch the frolic appear on the sea and listen to the audio description.
• Click on the video button to find out more about what happened on that stormy night.
